Unfortunately, one too many microaggressions over the past 20 days came to ahead yesterday. Mt. Vesuvius erupted and it turns out I wasn’t the only one. Just another episode of “Bad Luck Happening to Good People at Work”. Luckily , mine was isolated and I apologized profusely this morning.

So I’m soooo o glad it’s Friday, but I’m not sure yet if I’ve completely back to ‘normal’ self — I’m still angry to be honest. So before I hit you with sarcastic humor and other shitpost items, let’s talk about a car. Well actually a truck based on a car platform, the Honda Ridgeline.

Kinja'd!!!

I can’t believe that I’m just now noticing that the 2nd gen truck looks like an Odyssey with the roof lopped off the back to create a truck bed. Which is... it’s just weird. It’s not ugly by no means. Just weird.

And FFS Honda, would you just integrate the damn side mirror cameras more cleanly in future!?

Kinja'd!!!

Now that I’m done ranting, it’s time to post shit

My crazy work reminded me of this gem from Home Movies:

Oh an since I quoted one of the most famous lines in film history, it would only be right to post the speech completely:

...still rings true.

Unfortunately.

I think the Ridgeline is  officially based on the same chassis as the Pilot, so you’re pretty spot-on.

I asked my wife about the Ridgeline as her next vehicle as it’s as much truck as we’d ever need. Has that fancy in bed container that’d easily swallow our daughters field hockey gear. Four doors to fit our 2 kids and dog.

Her response: “If you’re going to get a truck ... get a truck.”

The Ridgeline reminds me of the Explorer Sport Trac or whatever it is called.

What’s that supposed to mean?  She thinks a truck is defined by having a ladder frame?

Oh no she doesn’t have any concept of a ladder frame/ unibody and would immediately fall asleep if I tried to explain it to her. I think she views it as a half measure car/truck hybrid and you should come down firmly on one side or the other.

I suppose a unibody won’t tow as much as a truck frame, although that doesn’t seem to be a use case for you. Is the Ridgeline’s truck bed smaller than American brand trucks?

I was thinking about something as I was behind one on my way into work this morning... I don’t know how accessable this analogy is but the way I see it is this:

Ridgeline is to cars as this is to bicycles

Kinja'd!!!

Hybrids. Mountain bike frame and components but geometry and other parts suited to the road. Sure it’s probably a great tool for getting around, not fun like a mountain bike would be, but faster and smoother. Not fast like a road bike but toughe r and easier on the back.

Riders are usually people is suits or dress pants with those cuff clips to keep their pants from snagging and an older style helmet with those little sti ck on rear view mirror.

All eminently practical things for a practical person who doesn’t care that he’s not setting anyone’s pants on fire.

It’s the car for, “ nah, im good with this."

The whole thing is smaller than many trucks on the market in the US. That being said I doubt we’d   ever need more truck than the Ridgeline. Please don’t try to apply logic to my wife’s taste in and opinions of vehicles.

The Ridgeline only comes in a 5 ft bed when the similar sized Tacoma and Colorado have a 6 ft option and full size trucks have 5.5-8 ft beds.

At least the S port Trac was built on a traditional ladder frame.

In the full 4 door configuration the Ridgeline bed is the largest in the category.
